What is "Perpetual Existence"?

"To refuse to endure this perpetual existence is to disregard the truth which is woven into the infinite web of survival."

I've been asked about "Perpetual Existence" quite a few times.
-
It's something I wrote when I was 12. I had heard someone use the word perpetual and looked it up. After reading the meaning, I wrote the line above. That's often how it works with my poetry. Something inspires me and sparks a line or verse or sometimes an entire poem.
-
The "Perpetual Existence" line has followed me throughout the years. It never ceases to amaze me how something you wrote when you were 12 can remain a solid fact, yet at the same time mean so many different things at different stages in your life.
-
So that's sort of what "Perpetual Existence" is. But, of course, as you know, it's always so much more!

I love Maneki Neko!

You know those little cats that wave to you at restaurants and stores? Those are Maneki Neko. I have two on my desk that keep me company while I work (the third broke a while ago and has yet to be replaced). I hope to one day have many, many Maneki Neko!

I adore these wonderful little creatures so much I even wrote a poem called "Waving Maneki Neko" and if I could figure out a non-cheesy way of getting a tattoo of one...I would!
-
There's a lot of background and history to this lucky cat. There are also different kinds...white ones, gold ones, ones waving their right hand, ones waving their left, ones with one coin, ones with two, ones with a green bib, ones with a blue one. Some Maneki Neko even come in groups.

I never see a Maneki Neko without smiling!

A little more to this Perpetual Existence

Hey there!

I've been thinking...I'm fine tuning and moving forward with a lot of my work right now, so why not Perpetual Existence too?!!

When I first started this blog (well, actually, there was a first blog that I screwed up while trying to shnazzy* up and this is the second incarnation of Perpetual Existence)...anyway, when Perpetual Existence was started, it was meant to be a place to post news and details of my various projects that occur away from here, but it was also meant to be a place where I could do a little writing. Things I didn't necessarily want to edit or shape to suit someone else (not that I find myself censored in my other projects, but still).

Over time, as I became busier with other things, things which allowed me to write as I wanted to and use my own voice, I found less need/time to write here. This blog became just a place to update what was going on elsewhere. Which is cool, but didn't feel like I was really using this blog as it was meant to be used.

Either way, I miss writing here.

I've got lots to say and it seems (gauging from my posts elsewhere) that people respond to it.

I'll still be posting with news and updates of my other projects, but interspersed with them will be my...meanderings? Cool & interesting things I come across? Ideas / thoughts / reflections / opinions? Conspiracy theories? Sure, why not! ...Well, maybe not conspiracy theories, but if something occurs to me...

So, I hope you come back soon to check it all out and of course, have a wonderfully amazing day!

Juggling only what I can...

Hey there, super-funky people!

Here's another update of what's going on in my Bohemian world...

* NaNoWriMo was going really well until illness hit (why hold it during cold season?!?!!). Blah! I decided to reprioritize, and that meant not doing NaNoWriMo this year. I totally understand why they do it only during a certain month (if you could choose any month, you might continually put it off), but it would be awesome if they did it twice a year (a spring and fall version, perhaps?). That way if you happen to be engaged during the one month, you could still opt-in for the other. Just a thought :)

* The CAC expansion is going well. I just need a few more days to make sure I've thought of everything.

* The little thing we use to record Boom Epic's practices has gone missing and is NO WHERE to be found. Seriously, we've looked all over and we have no clue where it could be. The bummer is that there are at least 40 crucial bits of songs on there (ones that weren't backed up on the computer yet). Hmm...

* My poetry is going well. I'm really trying to push it in new directions while maintaining my voice. It's new and exciting and wonderful!

Well, November is turning out to be quite the busy month.

A few things I'll be working on...

* NaNoWriMo has started and I'm writing away.

* Canada Arts Connect is growing and I've been working daily on the expansion.

* My Shameless Women column, as well as my other writing for the Shameless Magazine website, goes up every Thursday as always.

* Boom Epic practices twice a week and new songs are being written like mad.

* I'm working on poetry with a few different themes for deadlines coming up in Dec., Jan., and Feb.

So, those are some of the things I'm working on. Check back soon for more details!

I've decided to redesign www.desireeo.com! I love the site as it is, but there are a few tiny details that have always bugged me:

- the navigation buttons are hard to see.

- the placement is off on one of navigation buttons.

- the current site doesn't allow for individual pages to have their own link...which is a pain.

Nothing big, but why not change them if I can?

But I'm not just going to adjust these few little things. It's time for something fresh and new! I don't quite know what yet, but make sure to check back and see!

I was asked today, "Why do bees make honey?" The quick answer was, "For food." But.. is that really the answer? Or am I just assuming so because it seems like the obvious answer?

My Awesome Button Collection and Yarn Bombing Buttons!

For those of you who don't know, I have the most amazing button collection.

Started by my mom almost 30 years ago and possessing the most incredible examples, she passed her collection down to me and I continue to add the funkiest buttons you've ever seen to the hundred-or-so already there.

To be honest, the button-love goes deeper:
* I used to have a button biz (I still have super-pro button makers)
* I've had all kinds of button-related press (the ones in the pic below are only a small sample)
* I've even held a button event, 'Button Fest'

Soon I'll take a really great pic of my button collection and I'll post it here for you to see.
